Hi Catharine, welcome to the Chapel Allerton Pilates team.
When did you obtain your Pilates qualification?
I qualified to teach matwork pilates 12 years ago and have since trained in advanced matwork, small equipment and pre and post natal pilates. I am also a qualified yoga teacher.
What do you enjoy most about teaching Pilates?
I love actually seeing the change in people when they leave class, compared to when they first walk in. Their whole demeanour changes. It’s amazing!
What are the benefits of Mums to be practising pre natal and post natal pilates?
There are not only the physical benefits, such as strengthening and stabilising key muscles, reducing aches and pains, stretching and practising good breathing techniques. But also the opportunity to connect with other mums to be and new mums.
What can students expect from your classes?
Expect to feel stable, strong and released, but also relaxed.
If you could describe your teaching style in two words what would they be?
Calm and approachable
How often do you get time to do your own Pilates practice?
I am lucky to have my own studio at home so escape as often as I can!
What is your favourite Pilates class to take yourself and why?
My regular class is the studio circuit class on Tuesday morning, I’ve been coming for about 3 years and we always have a giggle.
What do you enjoy doing away from the Pilates studio?
I am a keen traveller and luckily my husband is too so we always seem to have a trip planned. I love experiencing new places and food. My favourite destinations so far have been Cambodia, India and New York.
Tell us a fun fact about you!
I own a highly energetic 11 month springerdoodle puppy called Betty who I love to walk.
