Benefits of the Oov

Some of our wonderful clients will be completely familiar with the Oov and might have attended one of our MOov classes, whilst others might see the ‘funny shaped cushion’ and wonder what it does and how on earth it can aid a Pilates workout. We often say to people it is likely you will not fully appreciate the Oov’s capabilities until you try it for yourself. We promise you will not be disappointed.

“The Oov is a powerful device that mimics the body and creates a state of instability in order to give the user feedback, so to enhance our abilities to achieve more efficient movement.”

Daniel Vladeta, creator of the Oov

The Oov works by activating core stabilising muscles, whilst gently extending the spine to stimulate healthy intervertebral disc lubrication. The Oov offers a range of significant benefits including

  • Stretching the core for strengthening

  • Rehabilitation

  • Relaxation

  • Prolonged spinal health

The Oov is made from highly durable foam which complements the spine's natural curves and in turn it helps to switch on core muscles automatically, so you don’t have to think about it.

If you are interested in learning more, Ria is hosting a special Moov workshop dedicated to the Oov on Saturday 28th April at 1:30pm. This MOov workshop will run for two hours and we will explore how using the Oov can dramatically improve your overall functional movement working with the traditional Pilates mat repertoire of exercises.

As well as looking at what the Oov is including the correct setup and safety, we will use familiar Pilates mat exercises on the Oov to help create better stability, through improving mobility, enhancing motor control and full body endurance. In a nutshell, you’ll learn how the Oov can create more efficient movement patterns in your body.

Ria says: “The Oov is truly invaluable when it comes to encouraging more awareness of how we move. With regular practice the Oov helps to create a much more balanced body and gives you a freedom of movement that is not only effortless but also intuitive, making for a happier body inside and out.”
